Internet Courses
An Internet-based course allows you to access a Western Texasc College virtual classroom of students via your personal computer. Course information and individual lessons are delivered via Moodle, the WTC online course management system. Through this system you interact with the instructor, with other students in the course, and with the materials.
Online courses are asynchronous, meaning you and the instructor are not online at the same time. You access the course on your own schedule, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Although you work at your own pace, online courses do have schedules and due dates that require you to maintain regular study habits.
If you are a first-time online student (have not previously taken an online course), you have the opportunity to determine your online suitability through READI. This assessment highlights your strengths and informs you of any weaknesses that mayimpact your online experience. It is recommended that all online students take the READI assessment prior to enrolling.
For information about the availability of online courses, check our course catalog. Online courses are marked with an "Internet" flag. If you do not see a course you need, contact the Distance Learning office (see contact information in the next paragraph) about possible future course availability.

To assist students in making good choices, WTC provides an Online counselor to help with topics such as course transfer, degree planning, and general questions about the student’s educational program. The Online counselor can also be contacted at times the campus is closed such as holidays and weekends. To visit with the Online counselor, contact dosborn@wtc.edu. Note that services are for academic advising only and do not include Psychological Counseling .
Although the registration requirements for online courses are the same as for campus-based courses, the process is slightly different. Online course registration is completed through the Distance Learning office. If you are not currently an enrolled student at WTC, you need to complete an Application for Admission and a Course Registration Form and submit them along with a copy of your current transcript (high school or college). If you are a current WTC student, you need to submit only the Course Registration Form.
For additional application and registration information, contact the Distance Learning office at 888-468-6982 extension 7915 (or 325-574-7915) or e-mail us at: dl@wtc.edu.
Textbooks for online courses may be purchased online through the WTC bookstore at or by phone at: 325-574-7601. The Bookstore accepts phone orders and payment by cash, check, or credit card.
