Western Texas College Drama Department

Students in a play production

The Drama Department at Western Texas College offers opportunities to learn all aspects of theater. Working backstage or onstage, students majoring in theater at WTC will gain valuable learning experiences through their projects in the coursework and by mounting full-scale productions.

In coursework, students explore acting, stagecraft, makeup, voice, and theater history. WTC Drama students gain practical experience in WTC Theater productions.

The WTC Theater Department mounts two productions per semester. The department also hosts a popular UIL One-Act Play Clinic for high schools in the spring.

FACILITIES

Productions are mounted in the Fine Arts Theater (FAT) in the Fine Arts Building. The FAT recently underwent renovations and upgrades that include more comfortable seating, new carpet, a state-of-the-art computerized lighting system, and new curtains. The upgrades and renovations give the students a more conducive space to work on theater productions and projects.

The Department also includes a fully-equipped scene shop and a well-stocked costume shop.
